All three drafts of the annual threat assessment reviewed by POLITICO do not mention Antifa despite the president repeatedly accusing the group of stoking violence. White supremacists pose the greatest threat to U.S.security, a draft report from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says, according to a report by POLITICO. “The most significant terror-related threat facing the U.S. today comes from violent extremists who are motivated by white supremacy and other far-right ideological causes,” John Cohen, the department’s counterterrorism coordinator from 2011 to 2014, told the news site. POLITICO reviewed three drafts by the DHS, all of which warn that white supremacists are currently a greater threat than foreign terror groups. None of the drafts of the DHS’s State of the Homeland Threat Assessment 2020 obtained by POLITICO referred to threats posed by Antifa, despite the Trump administration referring to the left-wing, anti-fascist group as domestic terrorists.
