Officer David Dixon was charged Thursday with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of use of a handgun in the commission of a felony, and reckless endangerment in the deaths of Dominique Williams, 32, and James Johnson, 38, according to the Takoma Park Police Department in Maryland. The officer was also charged with attempted second-degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony in the assault against Michael Thomas, 36, who was at the scene. He was taken into custody without issue. The incident occurred Wednesday at around 5 a.m., when Dixon said he thought he witnessed individuals trying to break into a vehicle in the parking lot of a condominium. The officer allegedly opened fire when the individuals tried to flee the scene. Williams and Johnson suffered gunshot wounds and died at a nearby hospital.
