Der 44-Jährige wurde wegen des „Besitzes verbotener Waffen“ festgenommen – Macheten und Bajonette sind in Washington illegal. Der Mann sagte nach Polizeiangaben, er befinde sich auf einer „Patrouille“, und fing dann an, über rechtsextreme Ideologien zu sprechen. Ein von der Polizei veröffentlichtes Foto zeigte ein auf den Seitenspiegel des Autos aufgemaltes Hakenkreuz und ein weiteres Hakenkreuz im Inneren des Autos. Außerdem hatte der Mann ein Tiergeweih an der Kühlerhaube des Pickups befestigt.
