Der rechtsextreme Journalist, Blogger und Gründer der in Russland verbotenen Nachrichtenseite „Sputnik und Pogrom“, Egor Prosvirnin, ist am Montag gestorben. Nach vorläufigen Angaben ist er in Moskau aus einem Fenster gestürzt. Der Tod wurde am Abend des 27. Dezember von seiner Frau gemeldet. Der „Sputnik und Progrom“-Gründer der wegen seiner extrem nationalistischen Ausrichtung verbotenen Webseite war zum Todeszeitpunkt 35 Jahre alt. Zuvor wurde in Russland berichtet, dass ein nackter Mann aus dem Fenster eines mehrstöckigen Gebäudes in der Twerskaja-Straße in Moskau gefallen ist und starb, bevor der Krankenwagen eintraf. Einige Augenzeugen behaupteten laut örtlichen Medien, dass der Mann zunächst ein Messer und einen Benzinkanister aus dem Fenster warf und dann hinuntersprang. Die Nachrichtenseite „Mash.ru“ meldete zudem, dass Prosvirnin zum Zeitpunkt seines Todes betrunken gewesen sei und er zuvor einen Streit mit seiner Frau gehabt habe.

Sputnik and Pogrom repeatedly demanded to check for extremism. In 2015, after the publication of material on the “goals and objectives of Russian nationalism”, a criminal case was initiated under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Incitement to hatred or enmity”). According to the publication’s founder, the investigation ended in nothing.
