Third #Idahoan arrested in #Capitol #riot – #terror

A Boise woman has become the third Idaho resident to be arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Yvonne St Cyr, 53, was taken into custody without incident Wednesday afternoon on an arrest warrant issued by the U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia, according to a news release from the FBI. The exact charges were not detailed. St Cyr was arrested by members of the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Boise Police Department. As of Thursday afternoon, St Cyr was being held at the Ada County Jail on a federal U.S. Marshals Service hold, according to Patrick Orr, spokesperson for the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. The Boise woman was previously identified by the Idaho Statesman as participating in the Jan. 6 insurrection, as she made multiple posts to Facebook during the Capitol assault detailing her actions and beliefs. A Facebook post from Jan. 6 contained the caption “Patriots are in our house” and featured a selfie of St Cyr, and another shot showed several people inside a Capitol room with an overturned table. One Facebook Live video posted on St Cyr’s page shows the mob of people on the Capitol steps, as others inside the building are calling for “glasses and gas masks.” Shortly after, the camera flips to show St Cyr inside as she mentions the need to charge her phone. The riot two weeks before inauguration day by then-President Donald Trump supporters left five people dead, including a Capitol Police officer. The rioters, some of them armed, broke through doors, broke glass, knocked down barricades, stole items from the Senate chamber and from offices, and caused lawmakers to take cover after being evacuated. A day after the Capitol riot, St Cyr and her husband, Troy, took to Facebook Live and explained their experiences at the Capitol. Yvonne St Cyr said on the livestream that she “made CNN” when she leaned out a window and reportedly yelled “this is our house.” “God put me in that window, so I’m assuming God put me on CNN screaming like a mad woman,” St Cyr said. “So hey, maybe I’m going to get arrested again, but I would get arrested and I would die for this country. So no regrets.”

#FBI tipped to #NewHolland man in #Capitol siege – #terror

The Federal Bureau of Investigations and the District of Columbia Capitol Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a New Holland man involved in the Capitol siege. According to his own social media postings, the man, Matt Horning, 44, formerly of Washington Court House and Dayton who now lives in New Holland, partook in the storming of the U.S Capitol building on Wednesday. Horning made social media postings in which he claimed he entered the Senate chambers and smoked a marijuana cigarette; the Guardian has not been able to independently verify the man’s claims, but videos posted on social appear to show the man traveled to the nation’s Capital last week. The Guardian spoke with three individuals who said they have alerted the FBI and D.C Metro Police to the man’s claims and possible involvement. The Department of Justice has charged dozens of people that they have been able to identify in photos, videos, and social media postings for their involvement in overtaking the building.

Northern Colorado Man Pleads Guilty For Possessing #PipeBombs – #boogaloo #terror

Defendant failed to register the devices or comply with regulations. The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado announced that Bradley Bunn, 55, of Loveland, Colorado, pleaded guilty to one count of making destructive devices and four counts of possessing destructive devices in violation of Title 26, United States Code, Section 5861.  Each count carries a maximum potential penalty of 10 years imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release.  Bunn was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals following today’s hearing before U.S. District Judge Christine Arguello.  A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 3, 2021. According to the facts contained in the plea agreement, on May 1, 2020, the FBI executed two search warrants at Bunn’s home.  They found four explosive devices.  Each device consisted of galvanized steel pipe with end caps and a fuse.  The devices measured 2 inches in diameter and between 13.5 and 9.25 inches in length.  FBI Bomb Technicians concluded that each of the devices was filled with explosive materials.  Agents recovered additional bomb-making components in the house, including more steel pipes, end caps, primers, fuses, and bottles of smokeless powder.  The defendant had not registered the devices in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record and he had not complied with any regulations concerning the making of destructive devices.

A far-right threat shut down US Congress this week. Why aren’t we talking about it?

It’s hard to know how serious the threat was, but either way House Democrats’ decision was terrible for US democracy. You might have missed it, but this week the House of Representatives canceled its meetings after the Capitol police warned of “a possible plot to breach the Capitol”. Most international media did not even cover it, and this extraordinary decision barely made the front pages of most US newspapers. In fact, the Washington Post covered it in its “Metro” section. Ironically, the New York Post, a rightwing tabloid, captured the significance best with its screaming headline “House Democrats surrender to QAnon, scrap March 4 session amid fortified Capitol”. What was the alleged threat that made the Democrats decide to cancel House meetings, something that has not happened since the attacks of 9/11? Even on 6 January, when pro-Trump rioters literally attacked the US Capitol, Congress returned to its session. According to news coverage, intelligence sources told Congress there was online chatter within QAnon circles that Donald Trump was going to be inaugurated for a second term on 4 March, the original inauguration date set in the constitution. Some federal sources also believed that militia members were involved, although it is unclear whether they had actually announced or promoted violence. Unfortunately, we will likely never know the real extent of the threat; intelligence agencies operate in almost complete secrecy in the US, with little congressional oversight, and almost no transparency to the broader public. But let’s assume, for argument’s sake, that there was indeed a far-right militia or militias that were planning to ensure that the former president was “inaugurated” this March. Are we really to believe that this threat was so serious that the state could not protect one of the most important institutions of its democratic system?

Rechtsextreme steuern Protest-Gruppe “Freie Sachsen”

Februar in Schwarzenberg gegründet.
